Ohio Septic & Well Water Rules
Ohio's sewage treatment system rules (OAC Chapter 3701-29) are set by the Ohio Department of Health and enforced by local health districts.
This is a short state page. It covers only the facts we've verified from official sources so far.
Registered contractors
- Installers, service providers and septage haulers must register with each local health district where they work (OAC 3701-29-03). Registration expires at the end of each calendar year.
- A service provider services, monitors, evaluates or samples systems but doesn't install or alter them. Ask your local health district for its list of registered contractors.
